Nathan Witter, piano technician
Piano tuning, repair & restoration Nathan is no stranger to music. Having grown up in Pensacola, he has been involved in school and community music since elementary school. Music interest was realized
as early as the first grade when Nathan directed a “choir” of his classmates for a parent day visit. Lessons on piano began at age 6 and violin was added at age 9. School orchestra and band lasted throughout high school in addition to piano playing in church.
Competitions such as Sonata Contest and Solo/Ensemble and evaluations such as Student Day and Piano Guild were also a part of his music instruction.
Nathan has been actively teaching music since college through private lessons and is a member of the Pensacola Music Teachers Association. He has also been involved in teaching band and strings in the West Florida Home Education Music Association. Nathan currently
plays violin with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and is music director at Pinewoods Presbyterian Church.
Nathan’s interest in piano tuning began in college when a fellow classmate was tuning one of the practice pianos. After observing him for a while, Nathan determined this was something he had to investigate for himself. After spending some time studying the art of
piano tuning and practicing tuning on many pianos, he was able to apprentice as a technician under Mr. Danny Lyons.
Nathan currently works as a piano technician at Dollarhide’s Music Center in downtown Pensacola in addition to his church music-directing and other teaching responsibilities. He will finish his last of three exams in September 2008 to become certified as a
Registered Piano Technician in the national guild.
