Dennis Alexander
 
Since his affiliation as a composer and clinician with Alfred Publishing began in 1986, Dennis Alexander has earned an international reputation as one of North America�s most prolific and popular composers of educational piano music for students at all levels. Mr. Alexander retired from his position at the University of Montana in May, 1996, where he had taught piano and piano pedagogy for 24 years. He currently resides in Northridge, CA, where he teaches privately while maintaining an active composing and touring schedule for Alfred Publishing.

Mr. Alexander is a native Kansan who graduated from the University of Kansas. In 1972 he joined the faculty at the University of Montana, where he served as piano department chair, in addition to his teaching duties in applied piano, class piano and piano pedagogy. In 1987 he made his New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall with violinist Walter Olivares, and continues to be active as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician. A former president of the Montana State Music Teachers Association, he is a popular clinician at state music teachers� conventions, and has been a featured speaker at several national MTNA conventions. Mr. Alexander conducted his second tour of Asia in March 1995, where he performed recitals and workshops in Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

In January 1995, Alfred Publishing produced a video featuring Mr. Alexander entitled Imagery in Piano Performance. Over the years, numerous organizations have commissioned him to write compositions. Many of his works are included in the National Federation of Music Clubs' Festival required list and his music is being enjoyed by students throughout the United States, Asia, Australia, Canada and Europe.

Guy holds the MTNA Master Teacher Certificate and has presented several programs at national conventions. She was also selected to be a Mobil Ambassador teacher at the ninth (1993) Van Cliburn Competition.

Barbara Kreager

"Is My Lesson Over Already?"
Fall, 2006

BARBARA KREADER is Keyboard Editor for Educational Publications at Hal Leonard Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Kreader has taught piano continuously for nearly thirty years. A faculty member of Northwestern University's Division of Preparatory and Community Music from 1974-1985, she also maintained an independent studio at her home in Evanston, Illinois, where she continues to teach forty students weekly. The workshop title is "Is My Lesson Over Already?"

A graduate of Northwestern University, Kreader earned a M.M. in piano performance in 1974 studying piano with Laurence Davis and piano pedagogy with Frances Larimer. The Editor of Clavier magazine from 1982-1988, Kreader has published articles in Clavier, The Piano Quarterly, and Keyboard Companion. She is currently the editor of the "Parent/Teacher/Child" column in Keyboard Companion. She joined Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation in November of 1989, and is one of the co-authors of the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library. Kreader has given workshops in over 130 cities in the United States, Canada, Australia, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia.

Wynn-Anne Rossi is a dynamic composer, performer and educator. She has composed over 35 publications through The FJH Music Company. Her educational publications for beginning and intermediate pianists are rapidly becoming staples in the American piano teaching literature.

Her workshop for Pensacola area teachers in 2005 was well attended and deemed a success by all participants.

62 Piano Teachers Attended this Informative Teachers Workshop

Featuring the new "all in one" Adult Piano Adventures® method, by Nancy and Randall Faber, including the Piano Adventures® Popular Repertoire series and Kevin Olson's exciting original compositions and arrangements.

For over two hours Kevin Olsen and 62 piano teachers had a each other's total attention.  

After the workshop the teachers enjoyed lunch from the Olive Garden, visited with each other and shopped Dollarhide's extensive selection of music.

BRENDA DILLON serves as education consultant for Roland's Contemporary Keyboard Division and as associate editor of Roland's Keyboard Educator. Her background includes experiences in academia and the music industry. Her formal education includes bachelors and master's degrees and doctoral work in music from the University of North Texas.  She is also a consultant and project leader for the National Piano Foundation.
